Description

The State College Area School District's Department of Federal Programs is currently accepting applications for a MTSS & Literacy Intervention Specialist anticipated to start the 2024/2025 school year.

 

This position will specialize in district-wide professional development, implementation, and support related to literacy interventions and resources aligned with the district’s MTSS system. This Title II federally paid position will prioritize professional development needs related to K-12 MTSS processes and procedures and ensure fidelity of implementing resources aligned with advanced tier supports and providers, including enhancing K-12 structured literacy professional development as required by Chapter 49.  The MTSS & Literacy Intervention Specialist will be responsible for the following:

 

  • Support MTSS teams with the administration of targeted literacy interventions, benchmarking, and progress monitoring to individual and small groups of students using research and evidence-based strategies and resources.
  • Collaborate with MTSS teams, with a focus on advanced tier providers and teachers, to identify the needs of students, set learning goals and targets, and problem-solve with MTSS teams to develop best practices for the continuous academic growth of students.
  • Assist with the collection of data, analyze data, and support the sharing of findings with MTSS teams.
  • Review student achievement and assist with placing students in appropriate intervention and support services.
  • Provide support and professional development to district staff to enhance knowledge of pedagogy and content, especially with literacy interventions and support resources.

Qualifications:

 

Required: 

1. PA Level II Instructional Certificate.

2. Demonstrated background in evidence-based literacy resources and instruction, including the science of reading and structured literacy.

3. Demonstrated background and understanding of effective MTSS systems.

4. The ability to obtain an ESL K-12 Specialist Certificate.

 

Preferred:

1. Valid PA Certification as a Reading Specialist K-12.

2. Extensive experience in providing professional development.

3. Elementary teaching experience.

4. LETRS trained/certified.

5. Experience and understanding of Chapter 14, Special Education and/or ESL.
