A Job Coach supports students with a disability at their place of employment to monitor their behaviors, skills, and accomplishments. A coach will help the student stay on task, learn new tasks, and offer strategies to help them overcome obstacles they may encounter at work. A coach will collaborate with the Transition Coordinator and the student’s teacher to ensure the team is working toward common goals for the student.  The coach also works with students on independent living skills through authentic experiences.   Coaching hours vary depending on the student’s schedule.

 

Coaches must have their high school diploma, obtain the required clearances, and a physical, including a TB test. Coaches need to have an understanding of students with disabilities, have patience in working with students with unique challenges, and be willing to work in a variety of settings.  Rate of pay for the 2023-24 school year is $14.66 per hour.
