The State College Area School District is currently accepting applications for Substitute Teachers for the 2024-25 school year. The district is searching for candidates who demonstrate a commitment to professional growth and development and possess various professional experiences. Organizational and collaborative skills are critical to success in these positions.
Qualifications:
- PA Teaching Certification or the ability to obtain a PA Emergency Certification (if not PA teacher certified, a bachelor's degree in any area is required for the emergency certification).
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lead and instruct students of all ages.
- Flexibility and critical-thinking skills.
- Basic computer skills are recommended but not required.
- Patience.
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Follow lesson plans provided by the regular Teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students.
- Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions, and maintain a positive learning environment.
- Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each student.
- Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including in the halls, playground, and cafeteria.
- Provide in-class assignments based on the available lesson plans.
- Take classroom attendance.
