The State College Area School District is accepting applications for a Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Technician as an addition to our maintenance department.  This is a twelve-month position working day shift (7:00 AM-3:30 PM) throughout the District.  Our maintenance department is responsible for all repairs, small installations, and contractor coordination.  The position is expected to split time between preventive maintenance and repairs.  

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Install, maintain, clean, diagnose and repair ventilation and air conditioning systems and equipment
• Proactively identify maintenance risks on equipment
• Perform emergency repairs promptly and efficiently
• Keep daily logs and records of all maintenance functions and refrigerant monitoring 
• Ensure compliance with 
• Comply with appliance standards, service standards, work instructions, District requirements, and the Occupational  Safety and Health Act
• Assist with customers' queries

HVAC Technician Requirements:

• High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent
• 2+ years experience as an HVAC technician, and willingness to continue regular education in the HVAC field
• Valid driver’s license
• Understanding of advanced principles of air conditioning, refrigeration, and heating
• Familiarity with building automation systems
• Working knowledge of boiler systems
• Proficient in balancing air and water treatment systems in line with HVAC protocols
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
• Proficient in reading schematics and work plans
• Ability to work after hours, over weekends, and on public holidays with short or little notice
• Possession of EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification or ability to obtain within 180 days
• Ability to work in confined spaces
